RE Classes are offered during the 9:00am and 11:00am services on Sundays. The Nursery is also available during both services.
Our Sunday school offers religious learning experiences that provide for maximum interaction among children and their teachers in an informal atmosphere. Our teaching teams consist of four or five adult volunteers who are trained to teach the curriculum. Parents are encouraged to: • bring their children regularly and on time, • take an interest in the program, • consider ways they might help out, • put down roots in their religious community and • be responsible for your child(ren's) safety before & after the RE program. |
2014-2015 classes and description:

Principle Playhouse: Kindergarten - 7th grade
Multiage sessions engaging in active lessons utilizing workshops built around music, art, science and drama. During our time together participants will learn our UU 7 principles and how to use them Sunday and every day!
11:00 RE Program
Nursery: Infants to 3 years old
Our nursery is staffed by our paid Childcare Coordinator and volunteer caregivers who provide consistent and loving care for our youngest members. Parents, feel free to stay while your child adjusts.
Chalice Children: 3 & 4 years old (May be combined with Nursery depending on registration.)
This curriculum is based on the premise that children learn best through experience. Chalice Children helps nurture spiritual growth, creativity, and a sense of community through imaginative activities and rituals such as rhymes and finger plays.
Creating Home: Kindergarten - 1st grade
This program helps children develop a sense of home that is grounded in faith. Together we will ask questions about the purpose and function a home serves for both humans and animals. Children will explore the deep sense of sacredness, the beauty of hospitality and the gift of loving relationships that can be represented in a home.
Moral Tales: 2nd-3rd grade
Every day our children go forth into a complex world where they are often faced with difficult decisions and situations. Moral Tales attempts to provide children with the spiritual and ethical tools they will need to make choices and take actions reflective of their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values.
Toolbox of Faith: 4th-5th grade
Toolbox of Faith invites fourth and fifth grade participants to reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Each of the 16 sessions uses a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight).
Neighboring Faiths/Building Bridges: 6th-7th grade
Building Bridges is a world religions program to deepen youth's understanding of the dynamic, fascinating, and varied world in which they live. It seeks to broaden their knowledge of humanity and embolden their spiritual search.
Coming of Age: 8th-9th grade
Participants will learn to think independently while developing their own answers to life’s big questions and developing their personal credo statements. In addition, they will acquire a history in UU theology and practice.
For planning and teacher preparation the RE Committee recommends that you sign up for one program that you plan to attend regularly. Please notify us if you plan to make a permanent switch. If you have any questions about our programs please contact our Director of Religious Education.
